Brief description of responsibilities:
Gender expert for the Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) project in five provinces (Takhar, Badakhshan, Samangan, Khost and Paktia) of Afghanistan. The project is commissioned by The German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and managed by the The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in collaboration with GFA Consulting Group.
My responsibility is to conduct a detailed gender analysis assessing the roles of men and women in forest landscape use and access and control over natural resources. Furthermore my role is to oversee and ensure equal participation and decision making over project activities and a fair distribution of benefits.

International consultant for the mid-term evaluation of the ‘Support to National Priority Program’ (SNaPP2). The overall goal of SNaPP2 is to contribute to improving food security and economic status of poor rural households in Balkh, Herat & Ningahar provinces. The project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation & Livestock (MAIL) and funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
Specifically:
- Desktop review of relevant project documents
- Using qualitative participatory methods for data collection on site in Herat province.
- Using SPSS for statistical analysis of survey data and qualitative content analysis of qualitative interview data from 900 households
- Writing final mid-term evaluation report
- Present findings during a stakeholder meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation & Livestock (MAIL) in Kabul
